Does hypnotherapy work for weight loss?

We know hypnotherapy can help for a variety of issues but does hypnotherapy work for weight loss?

As you can see, there are many reasons why people put on weight –

Too much “bad” food

Underlying trauma

Stress/anxiety leading to over eating

Emotional eating

Boredom

Not enough exercise

Low self worth

any many, many more reasons!

So how does hypnotherapy work for weight loss?

Basically, we target the main issue for each particular person. We use standard counselling, NLP (neuro linguistic programming) and sometimes EMDR (trauma therapy) to help get to the bottom of what’s causing the issue. We can even weed out any safety mechanisms that are tied to the weight gain. For example, sometimes sexual abuse survivors may have a subconscious belief that if they are overweight they are not as attractive, so it keeps them safe. If they lose the weight, then it will no longer be safe, hence why they keep putting the weight back on. Hypnotherapy can help break this pattern.

It always comes down to habits!

At the end of the day, with weight loss, we need to change the bad habits that have created the excess weight (overeating, stress or other) and create new habits that will lead to happier, healthier version of you! Hypnotherapy is a powerful tool that gives you access directly to your subconscious mind where you can change these habits.

More often than not, we need to heal the inner child that didn’t get their emotional needs met, and is using food as a substitute. Once we heal that inner hurt and build confidence and self worth, the weight loss journey becomes much easier!
