I’ve had several clients lately approach me for hypnotherapy services to assist them with their weight loss issues. I have a few clients who have used hypnosis for other things like anxiety or stop smoking, and they already know the benefits of hypnosis, so there isn’t an issue there. However, people who are new to hypnotherapy and who don’t understand the nuts and bolts of the practice, will often ask;
“Does hypnotherapy work for weight loss?”
Short answer is yes!
There have been many studies carried out detailing positive results for hypnosis and weight loss.
“Early studies from the 90s found that people who used hypnosis lost more than twice as much weight as those who dieted without the cognitive therapy.”

When you understand that hypnosis is just about accessing the subconscious mind, where all your emotions, habits and addictions are located, this is the space you NEED to be in to make lasting change and hence why hypnosis works for weight loss.
“And because hypnotherapy addresses the subconscious—instead of just the conscious—it may be more effective. In fact, a study analysis from 1970 found hypnosis to have a 93 percent success rate, with fewer sessions needed than both psychotherapy and behavioural therapy. “This led researchers to believe that, for changing habits, thought patterns, and behaviour, hypnosis was the most effective method,” Friedmutter says.”

It’s important to keep in mind that results do vary for each individual. If the weight is keeping the client safe and protected from past trauma, then that weight is not going to come off easily without some decent therapy work, where hypnotherapy can be of even more benefit to that particular client, if they are ready to do the work.
Some clients may have a particularly negative outlook and their ailment may be more beneficial to keep rather than the journey through the pain of change. However, for some people, once they understand the unconscious secondary gains of keeping the weight (protection, don’t have to socialize etc) it can help then make super fast improvements in their weight loss journey.
Hypnotherapy helps on all levels. Both consciously and subconsciously. It helps you to understand more about yourself, your habits and your hidden beliefs that you hold about yourself.
Are you ready to uncover the underlying drivers that are stopping you from losing the extra and weight?
Are you ready to gain a positive, healthy lifestyle!?
