What does hypnosis feel like?

Hypnosis is a very relaxed state of being. It’s a completely natural state and we go in and out of hypnosis daily. Here are a few examples that you should recognize-

-Daydreaming or lost in thought
-Meditation
-When “in the zone” playing sports
-Engrossed in a really good movie
-Doing something repeatedly like a barista making coffee after coffee
-Driving a car and you can’t remember exactly how you got to where you are.
Anytime you are intensely focused on a task, you’ll enter the hypnotic state.

Hypnosis is not sleep. There is always a level of awareness there, and for that reason, you can never do anything that you don’t want to do. You are always in control during hypnosis.

So what does hypnosis feel like?
Although everyone experiences the hypnotic state differently, most people commonly report that it’s wonderfully relaxing feeling. Some hypnotherapists report clients not wanting to come out of trance! (They have to eventually!)
There is often a sense of detachment or distance from the mind and the body whilst in trance. A little rest from the thoughts and ideas that make up the concept of the self can be extremely liberating for some people, which is why meditation is such a powerful tool these days.

There are different levels of trance, from light to very deep states of trance which vary due to a number of factors, but regardless of which level you get to, you’ll always be where you need to be for healing to occur. Generally speaking, the deeper you are in trance, the more relaxed you are, but even a light state of trance feels divine!

  1. I recall when I was in school, we were three of us in a room. One of my room-mates didn’t know when she picked a knife, raised it up in the air, went to the girl right opposite her and was about to strike. Luckily the girl wasn’t asleep. She jumped up and began to scream. The girl in question dropped the knife and behaved as if she didn’t know how she got there. Some said it was sleep-walking but I thought it was a kind of possession.
